  1. Our new yarn is a blend of 75% super wash BFL and 25% mohair . While we always recommend hand washing to preserve the good looks of your knits for as long as possible this yarn base will survive a trip through the washing machine on a 30 degree wool wash without felting.

This yarn comes in 100 gram skeins and each skein is 400 meters long – perfect for socks or a small shawl.

The yarn is spun for us by Laxtons in West Yorkshire, and both fibers are sourced and processed in the UK.

I’ll be swatching over the next few days so I can suggest gauge guidelines – and I need to get going on a pair of socks for Bobbie.

  2. On Friday we drove over to Laxtons to pick up the latest yarn they’ve spun for us.

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about making the perfect sock yarn.

We picked up 30 odd kilos of yarn, saw the tops for the next custom spin (this one includes silk. It’s like a cloud. Only better.)

So Saturday saw me at the workshop eager to get some of this yarn into dye.

It’s fair to say that I’m completely smitten.

The gleam and luster on this yarn is incredible – and while it’s going to wear beautifully as a sock yarn I’m already thinking that it’s going to make very beautiful shawls.

The yarn is a blend of 75% superwash BFL and 25% mohair. Both fibers come from UK flocks and are processed and spun In Yorkshire.

We’ll be adding this yarn to the shop on Thursday 8th February – make sure you don’t miss out on updates by signing up for our newsletter.
